Sanft Fe Railway, 1940s-1950s. Pamphlet. This lot contains five colorful Santa Fe Railway brochures.

Texas Chief – 1951. 4” x 9”. Unpaginated, but about 25 pages. Description of the Streamliner serving Chicago, Kansas City, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Houston, and Gaveston. Color illustrations of the train’s roomettes, bedrooms, lounges, ladies’ dressing room, and dining car; sepia and b/w illustrations of coach service.

The New Super Chief – 1951. 4” x 9”. Unpaginated, but about 25 pages. Description of the Streamliner service between Chicago and Los Angeles on “America’s Train of Trains.” Color illustrations of the Super Chief departing Chicago, its roomettes, bed rooms, suites, drawing rooms, lounge, dining car, observation car, and the domed roof Turquoise Lounge and dining car.

Grand Canyon National Park Northern Arizona – 1952. 4” x 9”. Unpaginated, but about 25 pages. Description and illustrations of the canyon, canyon vacations, touring the canyon, and canyon trails. 4-page insert with more details and pricing for the Fred Harvy El Tovar Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge and Cabins, and the Cabin Camp, plus horseback riding, travelogues, motor coach tours, and horse/mule trail trips.

Folded 4” x 9” brochure that unfolds into 16” x 18” 16-panel sheet with information about motor coach tours from Santa Fe, New Mexico: City Drive Old Santa Fe, One to Three Day Indian Country Tours, Mesa Verde National Park, and the Grand Canyon. Includes a two-panel pictorial map showing the routes of Indian Country tours.

Santa Fe Railway Indian Village: Souvenir Chicago Railroad Fair – 1948. Unpaginated, but about 30 pages. Information about the railroad’s “built to show you the way the Indians of the Southwest have lived for hundreds of years. . ..” Include sections about pueblo buildings, Hopi, Zuni, San Juan, Jemez, Navajo, Apache, Hogans, Wikiups, Kiva, Navaho Medicine Lodge, basketry, pottery, weaving, kachina dolls, and dances. Some minor soil to upper margins of two pages.
