1865 – A bill for a harness and whip from one of the most important California saddle and tack companies
San Francisco, California: 1865. Unbound. This bill, measuring approximately 9” x 4½”, documents the sale of a harness and whip from Main & Winchester of San Francisco to Messers B. F. Kenard and Company. It is dated 10 January 1865.
The billhead reads, “Bought of Main & Winchester, / manufacturers and importers of / Harness, Saddles, Bridles, Whips, Saddle Ware, etc. etc. / Nos 214 &216 (Old No. 68) Battery Street, Corner of Richmond.”
Various products are listed in the upper left and right corners including Harness Leather, Black Bridle Leather, Russet Skirting Leather, Patent Leather, Enameled Hides and Cloth, Horse Blankets, Fly Nets, Curry Combs, Horse Dusters, Mane and Tail Brushes, Neatsfoot Oil, Japanese Blacking, Mexican Bits and Spurs, etc.
