Sound binding with intact hinges. Clean pages. Almost no cover wear. Slight edgewear to the original mylar dust jacket. Dwiggins, the creator of the Electra and Caledonia fonts, was an American calligrapher, has been said to be the principal designer behind the improvement in book design during the 1920s and 1930s while he worked for Knopf. He was also an especially talented artist who in his spare time, created a masterful wood puppets. This book is a thorough photo documentary of Dwiggins legendary marionette theater, The Püterschein Authority.

Ornate gallery ticket, printed in purple and gold, for the first showing of H. C. Selous's famous giant paintings of Jerusalem in Her Grandeur and Jerusalem in Her Fall at McClure & Sons Gallery in Glasgow on 3 September 1860. Selous' spectacular paintings each measured 14' x 10' and were viewed by millions in Great Britain and later created a sensation when temporarily placed on display at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in the 1870s. The invitation has a vertical center fold. Clean. There are light corner scuffs on the reverse as well as what appears to be a small remnant of scrapbook paper.

Paintings and stamps are in proctective mounts. Additional marginal illustrations of opera masks. Red, black, and gilt cover. Five thick cardboard leaves. Original red folding slipcase. Information on the founding of the opera, famous actors, facial makeup, traditional acting roles, singing, recitation, and acrobatic fighting. Leaf painting is a classic Chinese craft that can be traced back two thousand years to the Eastern Han Dynasty. After first carefully treating the leafs to remove its color, artists use oil paints for their work. No wear to book; very light wear to slipcase.
