Rochester, MN: 1947. Photograph Album. Album with 25 mounted (glued) 5" x 7" photographs and ten additional 3.5" x 3.5" laid in. Seven of the smaller snapshots duplicate the larger photographs. Includes several ephemera pieces (booster tags, a large newspaper article, and basketball playoff programs). The tags are mounted, the programs and article are laid in.The album, photographs, and ephemera are all in nice shape. The basketball playoff programs were once folded in quarters and have bracket information and game scores annotated in pencil. Very Good. Item #008397

This is a terrific photographic slice of post-World War II American culture. The Rochester Rockets homecoming parade (in advance of its football game with the Red Wing Wingers) was truly a product of the early atomic age when the United States was the only nuclear power and Russia had yet to develop the bomb. Floats included several rocket ships and an atom factory; a float banner and one of the booster tags proclaim, "At-Om Rockets." Photos include a motorcycle-pulled float, the homecoming queen and her court in a streamlined Cadillac convertible, girls in bobby-sox and penny loafers, boys in white t-shirts, the football team in leather helmets, a vibrant downtown area, etc.

Price: $275.00
