Photograph Album Documenting Middleclass Life in Vermont circa 1905.
Arlington, Vermont: 1905. Photograph Album. This album contains of 175 photos of a young woman, her family, and her friends at various locations in Vermont and the northeast. The album is approximately 7" x 10". Most of the photographs are 2.5" x 3.5".
A larger photo (3.5" x 6.0") is mounted inside the front cover. It is labeled "Battenkill at Arlington, Vt." and shows a wood frame home located at what is now 74 Battenkill Rd (State Route 313) in Arlington; an 'x' has been marked on the photo between the house and the river. (Close-up street views from Google Maps appear to show the same house in the same location.) The first page of the album contains a small manuscript calling card for "Miss Smith".
Photographs include young men and women picnicking, playing tennis, shooting a pistol, wading in the river, walking in the fields and woods, with farm equipment and buggies, holding dolls and what appears to be a new Steiff Teddy Bear, eating watermelon while sitting in the patch, vacationing at a beach resort (some in swimming costumes), and more.
The album and photographs are in nice shape. Very Good. Item #008267
