"The best account of prison life in Texas during the Civil War" (Basic Texas Books 47B.) (An earlier edition is also listed in Sabin, 21152.) Duganne was a poet, playwright, and dime-novel author who fought in the Gulf region with the Union Army as officer in the New York 176th Volunteer Infantry Regiment and was captured at Brashsear City. About 1/3 of the book discusses service with the regiment and 2/3s discusses life as a prisoner. Quite scarce.
