Bragg was a principal Confederate commander in the Western theater, and later he served as the military adviser to Confederate President Jefferson Davis. He is generally considered to be among the worst generals of the Civil War. He lost every battle in which his forces fought except for Chickamauga where the arrival of General James Longstreet's corps saved the day.
