South Carolina State Secession Commission Report on the Address of a Portion of the Members of the General Assembly of Georgia, 22 December 1860. Charleston, SC Evans & Cogswell 1860 First Edition Pamphlet Very Good 6 pages. Just before the South Carolina Secession Commission was to vote upon its Ordinance of Secession, a request was received from the Georgia legislature asking that South Carolina take no action yet, but rather delay any vote until a "general Convention of the Southern States" could be held. The South Carolina commission ignored the request and voted to secede. Following the vote, this response justifying its actions was sent to the Georgia legislature and published for use in publicizing its decision to leave the Union. Sabin 27903. P&W 3815. South Carolina State Secession Commission Set of the Three Most Important Secession Documents Including South Carolina's Ordinance of Secession Charleston, SC Evans & Cogswell 1860 First Edition Pamphlet Very Good "Declaration of the Immediate Causes which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union," "The Ordinance of Secession," and "The Address of the People of South Carolina Assembled in Convention to the People of the Slaveholding States of the United States" A very nice set of the documents that dissolved the United States of America when it became apparent that Abraham Lincoln would be elected President by the Electoral College. The "Declaration of the Immediate Causes and the Ordinance of Secession" are published in one pamphlet (13 pages + 3 blanks, 23.5 cm), and the "Address of the People . . . to the Slaveholding States" is published in a separate pamphlet (16 pages).
