The Arabi Pacha led an unsuccessful revolt against the Egyptian Khedive government in 1881. When his followers massacred civilian Europeans, the British fleet bombarded Alexandria and occupied the country. The British occupation lasted until 1936. Arabi Pacha was capture and Broadley defended him at his trial for treason. Broadley's account of Arabi's defense well documents not only the court procedings but the mutiny, bombardment, and Tel-el-Kebir military campaign as well, all from an Egyptian perspective. Tight binding with sound hinges. Clean pages. Reverse of title page has been reinforced with paper tape near spine where it attaches to the stub of the frontispiece.
