2 Mack, Lissie and Robert Ellice Mack A Christmas Tree Fairy
London Griffith, Farran, Okeden & Welsh First Edition Pictorial Cover Very Good - 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall 
Circa mid-1880s; said to pre-date the first American printing by Dutton. Unpaginated. 10 full page color illustrations. Small collection of poems for children, but the highlight is The Christmas Tree Fairy. The frontispiece by Lissie Mack, which pictures a young girl sleeping on the floor with the Christmas Tree Fairy hovering above, was included in fairy tale collections for many years. Sound binding, but cracked hinges. Clean pages with the occasional finger smudge. One illustration has a short, closed marginal tear that just touches the border of the picture. Cover has some minor wear and soiling.

10 Unlisted Civil War Patriotic Movable Tent Valentine with Its Original Patriotic Envelope
1862 Card and Envelope Very Good 
Often referred to as "The Soldier's Farewell," this set of cover and movable card is the second hardest Civil War patriotic to find and is identified as "Extremely Rare" in Walcott (see number 2380). The valentine features a flag draped tent with movable flaps that open to reveal a soldier writing a letter to his sweetheart at home. Both card and cover are unused. The card is clean with some light edge wear and one light dot of foxing. The envelope has some light soiling and is missing the top flap and one side flap.

Circa 1900. Approximately 8" tall when standing. Attractive fold-out Easter card with three layers. Card features two angels ringing a bell and surrounded by daisies and violets. No missing pieces. Lace filler is intact. Stands up nicely. Clean. Signed on reverse. Faint crease to base. Small piece of lightly soild paper affixed at base, possibly to cover an incription or additional signature.

1900 Greeting Card Very Good 
Circa 1900. Card measures approximately 7.5" x 8.5". Bound with light blue ribbons. Applique on front cover with folding doors decorated with two angels, gold, silver, and green glitter. Inside the doors is another fold-out showing four pretty young girls in winter coats and hats. Four pages of poems are inside the card covers. Unused and clean with very light wear.

16 Unlisted Ornate Folding 4-Panel Lace Valentine with Angel, Dove, and Flowers
1857 Greeting Card Very Good 
Approximately 3.25" x 5". Very attrractive valentine with an embossed British diamond registry marking that indicates that its Lace design (XIII) was registered in 1857 (K) on the 11th (11) of July (I). There are four folding lace panels that open to reveal a colorful bouquet topped by a silver cherub. A gilt-bordered oval motto below the bouquet reads, "My heart is true To thy love." Approximately 3" x 5". Unsigned. Almost no wear to the lace front and interior. There are paper remnants on the reverse, probably from a scrapbook page.

17 Unlisted Ornate Lace Valentine By Kershaw & Son
Kershaw & Son 1855 Greeting Card Very Good 
Circa 1855. Approximately 4" x 5.5". The valentine consists of three leaves: 1) a paper lace cover with two attached scraps, one multicolor and one gilt, 2) a tissue page with a colorful diecut lady holding a mirror and a diecut scroll motto that reads "True love is like a Gorgian knot / Which Angel hands have tied / By heavenly skill its texture wrouth . Who shall its fold divide", and 3) a blank light card backing. "Kershaw & Son" is embossed on margin of the front cover. There is a price "1 1/2" on the reverse of the back panel. An inscription on the back of the card reads, "Miss Mattie I will write soon and this Valentines is from your Friend Harry". The lace front panel is perhaps missing a few small pieces at the corner. The tissue leaf and back panel have some toning.

18 Unlisted Ornate Lace Valentine By Meek
Meek 1860 Greeting Card Very Good 
Circa 1860. Approximately 3" x 4". The valentine consists of three leaves: 1) a partially gilded lace paper cover, 2) a blue paper leave with a diecut multicolor cherub and six solid color stars, and 3) a blank card backing to which has been affixed a red and blue retangular motto that reads, "To One I Love / Whe the sweet perfume of flowers, / Scents the balmy air, / How sweet to pass the evening hours, / With thee my charming fair." Meek" is embossed on the left margin of the front cover. There is a price "W/1" on the reverse of the back panel. The lace front panel is perhaps missing a few small pieces. The paper leaf and back panel each have a tiny spot of very light toning at the top edge.

19 Unlisted Ornate Valentine with a Young Woman Holding a Giant Flower. With Original Envelope.
1860 Greeting Card Very Good 
Very attrractive valentine in the style of Esther Howland, however one of her price codes does not appear on the reverse. Approximately 3.75" x 5.5". The card features lacework, gold embossing, green and red background papers, and embossed die-cut figures of a woman holding a giant flower and a boy playing the violin. A page of verse is tipped in. The original embossed envelope is present. Unused, unsigned, and unaddressed. Tne card is clean with almost no wear. The envelope has some light foxing.

20 Unlisted Ornate Valentine with Angel, Dove, and Flowers
1860 Greeting Card Very Good 
Very attrractive valentine in the style of Esther Howland. A red handstamp on the reverse of the card is similar to Howland's codes, however it uses the initial "W" rather than "H". Approximately 5" x 7.5". The card features lacework, gold and red background papers, and embossed die-cut figures of flowers, an angel, and a dove. A small verse, illustrated with a flower and butterfly, is affixed inside the card. Almost no wear.
